On 15th August, the NYMR MPD team were shown around the tender at Riley and Sons at Bury by Andrew Simkins. We were shown excellent progress of Vera’s overhauled tender chassis and brand new fabricated tank. As of 20th September the tender was loaded onto a low-loader and made its journey across the Pennines in time for the NYMR 50th Gala.

When completed, the locomotive will be converted from coal-fired to oil-fired, as the price of coal increases (and the sourcing), this preservation first could prove pivotal in securing the future for many heritage steam locomotive.
